Exactly. As Runciman points out Kagan's labelling of this or that as "Kantian" or "Hobbesian" betrays absolutely no reading of Hobbes or Kant - and he certainly misrepresents both "grotesquely". It is absolutely despicable. The anti-thesis of the kind of close reading you get in Habermas (of basically everything that was ever written!), or even Chomsky of people like Dewey and A Smith. Close reading of these texts is required...
